Socks, Sewing, Quilting.. all this weekend!

Thank you to everyone that came out for the Red Line Yarn Crawl last weekend! We made some new friendships and welcomed some first timers to Stitch House. I would like to wish a extra-special hello to you and I hope that you enjoy all we have going on at Stitch House. I will be posted pictures I took on our facebook site soon after this email is done. Please check it out and like the Stitch House page on Facebook.
Last week also marked the return of Katie on Saturdays. As you know Katie gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Jean-Luc in January and after some rest, she’s back and ready to go! Join her this Saturday, March 31 for a Sock Workshop in the morning. Here’s the details:
Intro to Sock Knitting – In this much requested class, Katie will teach you the basics and beyond of sock knitting.  In this one session         class, students will be working on a top-down baby sock.  The small scale of the project will afford the opportunity to work cuff, heel,         and toe in a small project.  Materials needed: small amount of DK weight yarn and set of US 4 double-pointed needles.  Materials         may be purchased at Stitch House. $20 not including materials.  Saturday, March 31, 10am-12pm.
Later tomorrow afternoon I’ll be kicking off the Spring Quilt Club! Come in between 4-6 and get yourself started on a very cool quilt. We’re making modified versions (simpler if I say so myself) of Anna Maria Horner’s Love Letters and Amy Butler’s Mid Mod Quilt. Pick one, come in and get your fabrics and have some sewing fun with me over the next 6 weeks! If you have to finish your winter club quilt, you are welcome to continue working on it with us this Spring. There is no rush and no pressure, just come and sew at your own pace! More details are covered in the attached flyer.
This weekend is also our big Prom Dress Collection Weekend for Belle of the Ball! Please bring them to us and we’ll get them to the organization and onto some very lucky prom goers this year! make sure the dresses are in pretty good shape and not too dated. Vintage cool is ok; 80s puff shoulders aren’t.
You might know how much I love my neighborhood of Dorchester and underway are all the preparations for a wonderful Dorchester Day 2012! As the parade date Sunday, June 3 approaches we have many activities to get ready. I am chairing the Little Miss and Young Miss Dorchester Contests on Saturday, May 5 and hope you can help me spread the word! I hope you might know a wonderful young girl who would like to be Little Miss (ages 7-8-9) or Young Miss (ages 10-11-12) Dorchester 2012. I have attached the applications for you to forward along to anyone who might be interested in participating as a contestant, folks who could volunteer the day of the contest and those that might be able to make donations of prizes and gifts for the winners and the goodie bag each contestant.
Last Sunday Stitch House enjoyed the company of the Welcome Baby program and many of you came to knit baby hats for those baskets. Some of you even bought yarn during the Red Line Yarn Crawl to make those cute hats on your own. If you have a ready hat, I’d be thrilled to get them over to Colleen and her team at Welcome Baby and the Family Nurturing Center. Bring in those hats when you are visiting us next! If you would like to make a hat donation, please crochet or knit a new baby size hat in any yarn and colorway! Use up that scrap yarn!
