READ for specials, classes and all sorts of events happening!

Can you believe the weather we’ve had! It was so nice and warm and now it’s cold again! I think it will be short and pass just in time for Easter. Or, at least I can hope! The kids have pulled out the shorts and the regular hockey season is done. Can you imagine that hockey for 7 and 9 year olds wrapped up this past Sunday! And then there are Spring and Summer sessions we could sign up for. But not for us. We are more than ready for Baseball and Soccer. Sun and mud and lemonade. Doesn’t it sound so nice?! And like every season, as we go, I will post all sorts of pictures of the kids! For now, it’s back to squishy fibers and the click of the knitting needle!

If you’re ready for a cross over project (you know, from the heavy wool blanket, into something that hangs a little lighter on your lap) Kathleen has a project for you! This last week she finished this beautiful April Showers scarf from the Purl Bee in Lotus Mimi Hand Dyed. It is a perfect match of color and softness with a wonderful easy repeat pattern. One skein… that’s it – and a free pattern! If you aren’t local, this is our free ship project through the end of the week. You just need to pick a color!
This is last week we have spent some fun time sewing away too! I do love getting into my sewing. As one student said during class, “you can really get caught up in this and loose all sorts of time!”. I do agree. I wish there was more time in the day to add more hours of sewing! This last session, we all worked on the Washi Dress by Made by Rae. It has been an exciting session and we have the pictures to prove it! If you would like a little help getting started, come on by the shop… we’re happy to help!

We will do another series on the Washi, but first I’d like to introduce you to the Tova Top/Tunic or the Wiksten Tank (Tova companion) on Sunday, May 6 from 2-6pm. This session requires pre-registration and a pre-sew session. Call to register, space limited.
Shelly also had a hugely successful Baby Sweater workshop wrap up this week. We had a few requests for more, so we’re putting it together for you! Using the Cascade 220 book 60 More Quick Baby Knits Shelley is running a skills workshop in May, June, July and August. Starting Saturday, May 10 join her for Cables, June 14 for Colorwork, July 12 for Lace and August 9 a special finishing day. Call for more details, but get on this list! Space is limited.
Otherwise, check out all we have coming up for workshops and check out the new yarns added to Clearance (because we always need to make room for what’s new to the Stitch House!).
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to see you soon!
