End of Fabric Sale & Sunday Workshops!

You know that sometimes I prefer to talk about my kids… forget the current knitting pattern, the newest quilting technique or our best class ever, I do like to do a little bragging every now and then. Today is the day. Last week I watched the triplets win the Savin Hill Little League Minors Championship! They were so pumped. It was a blast and quite the celebration.

Savin Hill Little League Minors Champions!

For as long as I can remember, when a team wins at Savin Hill, they take a victory dip. If you timed your travels right, you could see it from the expressway! That’s Charlie up front. Perhaps the most excited kid you’d ever meet!

Ok – now back to what you really want to read about. Last week was World Wide Knit In Public Week and we had a number of you send in pictures of you knitting away in public. We posted a number to Facebook and I picked a “winner” – I think you will agree, this is a the coolest submission from Lauren G.

On Sunday Valaree is running a Blocking Workshop starting at 10am – one of the BEST workshops we run! And this is the LAST weekend of the Fabric Sale! Find some great prints at 40% off!

All Summer we are here Friday nights knitting and crocheting away. Join us around the table anytime after 6pm and feel free to bring a snack or beverage to share! Oh – and because you read this blog, check out below for a coupon to use on any of our books! Thank you!

Binding Off & Casting On

Come join us for a lesson designed to expand your skills in beginning and finishing your projects. We’ll learn news ways to both cast on and bind off our projects including the long tail and the knitted cast on, then move on to the provisional cast on – often used in shawls and to make garments with a hem, as well as a folded picot edge, and a knitted picot edge cast on.

After that, we’ll move to binding off, where we’ll learn how to work a three needle bind off, a sewn bind off, Jenny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off and then finish off with a picot edge.

10-12:30pm $25

Blocking Techniques

Sunday, June 29, 10am-12pm. $20.
There’s one more important step after finishing your sweater or lace shawl: blocking! Blocking is a process of shaping a knit garment to the proper size and allows the fibers to “bloom.” It won’t fix your mistakes but it usually makes everything look a lot better! Valaree will demonstrate the process and introduce you to the tools and techniques to make your knitting look its best. You will leave feeling confident to block your latest cast-off. Call 617.265.8013 to register…there will be a bit of homework.

Toss Pillow w/ Zipper Closure
