Yesterday was my grandmother’s “Mama” birthday. She has been gone from this earth for a few years now but her impression on me has continued. She is the one who taught me to crochet and encouraged me to sew. I would spend hours with her and my grandfather (DjaDja) watching Lawrence Welk and putting on performances and crocheting Barbie rugs. I was really good at the oval shape! She would help me make doll skirts and blankets – all wonderful memories and perhaps without them, there would be no Stitch House!
At the Stitch House this week, Kid Camp continues! We have our last week scheduled for NEXT week. We hope you will consider sending your 8-12 year old to us to learn all sorts of crafting techniques. Next week we’ll be sampling all that is done at the Stitch House. Your kids will do some sewing, weaving, arm-knitting and more! Call to register for one of our few seats left!
This Friday we offer another round of “Bang In Friday” fun. Join me to sew the Sorbetto Top from 10am-12noon on Friday, July 18. This session costs $40. The top pattern comes in sizes through 18. We can stretch it to a 20 and we’ll discuss some modifications… No sewing experience necessary.
For those of you who need some Knitting Help – call to schedule private drop-ins held Wednesday afternoons and Friday days… We also have a Knit 102 Summer Series starting this Friday. Join Shelley from 11am-1pm and get help on your current projects. This is a series designed for knitters with experience. Normally $75 for 4 weeks, our Summer Special gets you the WHOLE Summer for that fee. Shelley will also share a new knitting trick each week to help you along! Call to reserve a seat.
As usually we are here Friday nights all Summer long! Join us around the table anytime after 6pm and feel free to bring a snack or beverage to share!

Binding Off & Casting On
Come join us for a lesson designed to expand your skills in beginning and finishing your projects. We’ll learn news ways to both cast on and bind off our projects including the long tail and the knitted cast on, then move on to the provisional cast on – often used in shawls and to make garments with a hem, as well as a folded picot edge, and a knitted picot edge cast on.
After that, we’ll move to binding off, where we’ll learn how to work a three needle bind off, a sewn bind off, Jenny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off and then finish off with a picot edge.
