So, there is no “Jump Rope” – it just seemed to fit nicely with the heading of the email. Maybe I was thinking “Double Dutch” for double knitting, then the candy and all. So Jump Rope. Sometimes I do crack myself up!
Anyway, I hope that you do join us for Double Knitting with Alasdair Post-Quin on Sunday, November 16. He’s great – and the techniques you’ll learn will be an incredible addition to your knitting skills. There are more details below, but call us NOW to reserve your seat at the table.
Between now and then, we have a few other things happening, and I hope that you’ll join us… First, we’ll celebrate October and November birthdays on Friday, November 7 at Friday Night Knitting. Join us between 6-8pm for good company and a song and some cake. Please RSVP so we have a gift ready for you.
On Saturday, November 8, join Bill for a Men Only evening of knitting and crochet. I hope you can come in for this special night 6-8pm. Please RSVP so we know how much we need for munchies and beverages.
THIS Friday is Halloween. I LOVE Halloween. I hope you will swing by and enjoy the evening with us. The usual crowd will be around the table… some might even be in costume. We will have candy for the kids throughout the day, so please stop by if you’re in the neighborhood. If you made a costume and can’t show us in person, please post it to our Facebook Page. I’d love to see what you created. Here’s my first costume for Douglas… 9 years ago he was a roaring lion… and I loved making it!
And, as usual – we’re here Friday nights for Social Knitting 6-8pm.
Check us out if you missed our spot on
Sunday Skills Workshops!
Come join us the next two Sundays for classes to build your knit and crochet related skills.
There’s one more important step after finishing your sweater or lace shawl: blocking! Blocking is a process of shaping a knit garment to the proper dimensions and allowing the fibers to “bloom.” It won’t fix your mistakes but it makes everything look a lot better! Valaree will demonstrate the process and introduce you to the tools and techniques to make your knitting look its best. You will leave feeling confident about blocking your latest cast-off. Call to register…there will be a bit of homework before class. Sunday November 2, 10am-12pm. $20.
Good Reader for iPad
Jennifer Lassonde will introduce you to the wonders of using the GoodReader app as a knitting tool. You will learn how to download patterns, keep notes, and highlight important instructions, among other useful tips. Please download the app before class. Sunday November 9, 10am-12noon. $20.

More Sewing Classes!
Get to Know Your Sewing Machine (GTK)
Sign up for our 2 hour workshop to familiarize yourself with either your personal sewing machine, or ours. We’ll introduce you to the machine, including turning it on, threading it, learning the basic stitches and functions, and caring for it. You will leave this session with a good feeling about your beginner skills, a handy packet of information to use at home and ideas for a starter project for your first sewing class with us. Even if you aren’t taking a sewing class with us, this is a great opportunity to learn a few basics. If you are bringing your own sewing machine, bring all the pieces and the manual (if you can find it!). If you don’t own a machine, come get to know our machines. This workshop also includes taking your measurements, picking appropriate patterns and tips on how to select fabrics and notions. Class cost: $30. Saturday November 12, 6-8pm.
Sew 102 (prerequisite: GTK and Sew 101)
This is the next level class in our sewing series that helps you through your first independently selected sewing pattern. Over the course of eight hours you will learn how to understand and follow your pattern instructions, cut out pattern pieces, and make minor pattern alterations for a better fit. We ask students to bring their own pattern, fabric, thread and other notions. Call or email for more info. Saturdays 10-2pm, November 15 & 22.
