Two Special Events this Weekend!

April 30, 2015
SH LogoWe have a busy special weekend ahead of us here at Stitch House. I hope you can join us!

84f7605a-3bea-46cb-8b8f-8aa1769390dd.jpgFirst all, Maire Treanor will be with us from Ireland for the entire weekend of May 2 & 3. She’ll be teaching us the stunning, detail work of Clones/Irish Lace. This intensive workshop is for beginner and advanced crocheters (all you need is the chain stitch) to create beautiful motifs, masks, collars, and shawls.

Then on Sunday, May 3, Moo (our wonderful sewing instructor) will be introducing the new sewing machines that we’ll be selling! We will have 4 shop machines that will be available for you to order. All will have a variety of bells and whistles for you. They come to us via Ann’s Sewing Machine in Canton. We’ll have them out for you to test drive during this Sewing Open House. Please RSVP for special attention at 10am, 11am or 12noon.

And, as usual, join us for Friday Night Knitting. Please note, NEXT Friday (May 8) we will not have our usual FNK – SteveBe will be “in the house” for some fun!

Thanks-
Annissa

GET TO KNOW YOUR SEWING MACHINE  (GTK) is a 2 hour workshop to familiarize yourself with either your personal sewing machine or ours. We’ll introduce you to the machine, including turning it on, threading it, learning the basic stitches and functions, and caring for it. You will leave this session feeling good about your beginner skills, with a handy packet of information to use at home and ideas for a starter project for your first sewing class with us. Even if you aren’t taking one of our sewing classes, GTK is a great opportunity to learn a few basics. If you are bringing your own sewing machine, bring all the pieces and the manual (if you can find it!). If you don’t own a machine, come get to know ours. This workshop also includes how to take your measurements, pick appropriate patterns and how to select fabrics and notions. $30 for one session, offered Saturday, May 16th 10-12noon OR Wednesday, May 20 6-8pm.

Sew 101 (Prerequisite: GTK)

You will learn how to understand, follow and cut out widely available sewing patterns. All participants will work on the same pattern. Pattern and fabric are available for purchase at Stitch House. Tuesday, May 19 & Tuesday, May 21 from 6-9pm. $75
