Yarn Harlot, Sew 101, September has arrived

And then it was September.

You know what I’m going to say: “I love the Summer more than Fall, but as a yarn shop owner, THIS is our season.” Ha Ha! I also love the change in weather although the days are still hot, I have noticed the evenings and early mornings are cooler and I am starting to get more excited about my heavier wool knitting (and my run for City Council!)

My family just took a quick few days this past week for some alone time and a little driving. We hit the Little League World Series (PA), Niagra Falls (Canada side) and Lake George (kids think it’s named for them!).

I also used this time to get some of my own knitting done. I made (still need to join and block) a stunning Bias Loop in CEY Sanibel. This is less a cowl and more like jewelry! I’ll have it in the shop for you to check out… unless I borrow to wear.

This month is perhaps the most exciting for us! We have the Yarn Harlot, Stephanie Pearl McPhee, coming next weekend, The Greater Boston Yarn Crawl starting September 17 and our Anniversary Celebration Saturday, September 26! Because of all this our Saturday sessions (after this weekend) will all be on hold.

We have much more happening too. First, Moo is running two Sew 101 nights Sept 2 and Sept 15 from 6-9pm. You can join her one ($50) or both nights ($100) to learn how to sew (pre-req GTK).

Our class list is is updated for the Fall including 101, 102 and skills classes in Knitting, Crochet and Sewing. We’ve also added a kids knitting class for Sundays, October 11, 18, and 25 from 2:00-3:30 pm.

This Monday is our last one closed before we’re back open 7 days a week this Fall. We still have Friday Night Knitting (except Sept 11). I look forward to seeing you soon!

Even if you aren’t taking a sewing class with us, this is a great opportunity to learn a few basics. If you are bringing your own sewing machine- bring all the pieces and the manual (if you can find it!). If you don’t own a machine, come get to know our machines. This workshop also includes taking your measurements, picking appropriate patterns and how to select fabrics and notions. $30 for one session.Saturday, October 3 10am-12noon.

With autumn just around the corner, I am gearing up for some big campaigning fun! Would you be able to introduce me to your neighbors? Perhaps you could host a “Meet & Greet” in your home, your back yard or at a local establishment… all in an effort to meet voters, talk City issues and get me one step closer to winning this November. I’d love the help in my run for the Boston City Council 2015! To volunteer for this or to help in any other way, email me at annissaeg or call my cell 617-594-1841. Thank you!
