Needle Clearance, Thrums, Blocking; Men’s Knit Night

October 1, 2015
SH Logo

And then it was October.

Fall is certainly here, and hurricane season! The rain the wind… and did you see that moon the other night!? We brought the kids to the beach to watch it change. All of us wondered what the people of ancient times thought of it. Amazing.

After we cleaned up from all our September activities I found a bunch of yarns a new home in our clearance section. Get them while there is still a good selection at 50% off. We have some Bergere, mohair, Pluscious, cottons and more!

We’ve also decided after years of Clover needles we’re going to give a new needle a try. We love the Clovers, but it’s time for a little change. So… all Clover needles are 40% off until they are gone! We still have a full selection to offer. This is a great time to load up for you or as a gift.

I’ve also started the final countdown to election day. I hope you’re “with me” and I can count on your vote this November 3. We’ll celebrate after I win!

I hope to talk soon & see you around the knitting table,

Annissa

Thrums, Blocking & GoodReader Workshops are back!

Join us the last two Sundays in October for some of our favorite workshops! These workshops are great for knitters at all levels.

Thrummed Mittens

Add a layer of cozy fleece inside your mittens to keep your fingers toasty this winter. This design is an update on the traditional mittens of Newfoundland and Labrador where knitters salvaged the bits of yarn left over when fabric is cut off of the loom. Worked into the mittens, these ends — or thrums — provide an extra layer of insulation and warmth. Prerequisites: Knitting in the round, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, knit/purl. Saturday October 17, 3-6pm. $30 includes instruction, fleece, and pattern. Worsted weight wool and needles are available for purchase.

Blocking Workshop with Valaree

Blocking won’t fix your mistakes, but it will help shape your knit garment to the right size & allow the fibers to “bloom.” Valaree will demonstrate the process and introduce you to the tools and techniques to make your knitting look its best. Call to register – there will be a bit of homework. Sunday October 18, 10am-12pm. $30

GoodReader for iPad with Jennifer

Jennifer will introduce you to the wonders of using the App GoodReader as a knitting tool. You will learn how to download patterns, keep notes, highlight important instructions & more! Download the app before class. Sunday, October 25, 10am-12noon. $30.

I’m in the final countdown to Election Day 2015. I need your help to cross the finish a winner. Would you be able to introduce me to your neighbors? Perhaps you could host a “Meet & Greet” in your home, your back yard or at a local establishment… all in an effort to meet voters, talk City issues and get me one step closer to winning this November. I’d love the help in my run for the Boston City Council 2015! To volunteer for this or to help in any other way, email me at annissaeg or call my cell 617-594-1841. and check out the campaign website – Thank you!
