Cal Patch

October 4 & 5

Stitch House Urban SEW Weekend!

Jersey Leggings

Saturday October 4, 10am-3pm. $125. (Sign up for both Saturday and Sunday sessions for $225)

People are often surprised to learn they can make their own leggings, but guess what? YOU CAN! And you don’t even need a serger to sew with knits. Guest sewing instructor Cal Patch will show you how to draft a pattern for this wardrobe essential, based on your own measurements. Then we’ll stitch up a first draft fit sample, adjust our patterns if necessary, and proceed to make a pair of real-live leggings. You’ll never buy them off the rack again! Please have at least advanced-beginner sewing skills, with a few simple projects under your belt. Class fee includes pattern and fabric.

Shift Dress

Sunday October 5, 10am-3pm. $125. (Sign up for Saturday and Sunday sessions for $225)

Here’s your chance to make your own custom dress pattern with guest instructor Cal Patch! In this one-day class, you will learn how to take your measurements and use them to draft a pattern for a simple sleeveless shift dress. Then we’ll make “muslins” (fit samples) from our patterns, and have a group fitting session in which everyone will benefit from seeing various fit issues and how to correct them. Based on this, you’ll make corrections to your pattern, and we will discuss fabric and styling options and construction techniques, so that at the end of class you are armed with all you need to embark on your finished dress project! Please have (at least) beginner-level sewing skills. (Note: only a pattern and muslin will be made in this class, not a finished dress.)All materials are included in the class fee.

Lisa McFetridge is back for another great workshop!

Lisa designed this hat as a tribute to the knit wear worn by the 2014 Slovakian Winter Olympic Team at the opening ceremonies in Sochi. Some digging revealed that the motifs on their hats were taken from the homes in a small Slovakian village, Čičmany,. She charted the designs from photos found on-line and turned them into this slouchy hat with a stuffed TopKnot. In two sizes Small/Medium & Medium /Large and worked in worsted weight wool, it works up quickly and is striking in black and white. Make this hat your own by using your own favorite colors.
